Who We Are
Our journey began with a simple yet profound vision to make a difference in the lives of young people through the power of athletics. For many years we've had a passion to inspire the youth not only to dream, but to become their dreams. We started in 2004 under the name Hoop Dreamers Basketball Inc. in the East New York section of Brooklyn where we organized educational workshops, provided field trips, organized competition tournaments and a lot more. YGA was birthed to continue to instruct, guide and motivate young people about the importance of teamwork, sports and everyday life. We are here to assist young minds in developing and growing into reliable independent adults. What we do is more than a commitment to sports; it's a dedication to shaping well-rounded individuals equipped to navigate life's challenges with tenacity and grace.
WHAT WE DO
Talent Development Programs: Unlocking potential through personalized coaching. Our Talent Development Programs are intentionally crafted to recognize and nurture the unique abilities within every young athlete. Through tailored coaching sessions led by dedicated mentors, participants receive individualized guidance that strengthens skills, builds discipline, and elevates performance both on and off the court.
We prepare youth for life beyond sports through dynamic, community‑centered workshops that build essential everyday skills. With practical lessons in communication, time management, and goal setting, participants gain the tools they need to succeed on and off the court. Interactive activities and real‑world scenarios strengthen leadership, resilience, and responsibility, helping young people grow into capable, well‑rounded leaders
Young Gifted Athletes provides year‑round basketball development rooted in community, discipline, and opportunity. We specialize in high‑quality training, weekly practices, and competitive play, giving young athletes the chance to grow their skills and experience the excitement of tournaments both in and out of state. Over the years, we’ve proudly served families across Brooklyn — once operating in Bed‑Stuy, East New York, and Bushwick, and now continuing our mission in two active locations: East New York and Bushwick.Beyond basketball, we create meaningful experiences that strengthen community bonds and support our youth. We host local BBQs, team gatherings, and regular food days where kids enjoy pizza, soda, water, juice, and refreshments — all provided at no cost. Every program we offer is free to families, with only a small fee for select out‑of‑state trips. Through sports, travel, education, and shared meals, we build a safe, supportive environment where young people can learn, grow, and thrive together
